We've had our other short bunk bed, the Shortie for many years, which has a ladder rather than a staircase. We've created the Royal as we appreciate that some people prefer the aesthetics of steps. Likewise some children find it easier or more fun to climb up to bed by way of a staircase.

As ceilings vary in height, the shorter bunk bed could benefit the child in the upper bunk, in regards to vertical headroom. Also it's beneficial for a child who wants a bunk bed and doesn't want to be too high up. For comaprison it is the same height as a midsleeper.

The bottom bunk sits low to the ground which may be beneficial for a younger child. The slats are around an inch from the floor which could be ideal for those who follow a Montessori style of parenting. Whilst lower in overall height, there is no compromise on headspace between the upper and lower bunk.

The stairs have deep and wide steps to make climbing into bed fun and easy. Being shorter, there aren't as many steps as with our other Cameo staircase bunk beds which have five. The storage is at the end of the Royal, in the form of shelves.
